Any chance of getting someone to do an upgrade on my forum. I am running SMF 2.0.17 right now. I want to upgrade to SMF 2.1 RC4

I have removed all the mod's that were installed, only one skin left to remove.

Seems like every time I attempt to upgrade, it all goes wrong, and I lose everything.

Thank
Ron.

What issues are you facing? Is it possible to do an upgrade from 2.0 to 2.1?
If the database has changed we might need to write some custom sql to import the old posts/users into a newly installed 2.1 forum.

Nothing that I know of Nesa. I just screw the works up whenever I attempt a upgrade.

Just want to upgrade  the old forum to a new version of RC4

All the mod's have been removed, and one error shows when I try to upgrade to 2.0.18. Will this stop me from upgrading to RC4?

Ronald

I don't mind trying to upgrade myself, but I need to know a few things first.

Use the large upgrade, zip it.

Do I install the large upgrade into the public_html, and go from here?

Do I install the large upgrade into the seniorforums.com directly and work from there?

This where I find it confusing.

Can someone please explain is simple terms.

Ronald

One more problem. I am having a huge problem opening the files with FTP and FileZilla. I have made accounts, changed the passwords, nothing, just will not open.

Is the a way of doing the upgrade using the cpanel, seems the only thing I can get to open.

Where ever your settings.php file is is where you put the large upgrade zip. After it's there extract it. It will ask if you want to overwrite the files. Say yes. Once it is done navigate to upgrade.php and a way ya go. (This way is done through cpanel.)

Do you mean install the zip file right into the settings.php file
Or upload it to that location then extract it. That location is seniorforums.net and has all the folders and files.

Bigguy

You can't install the zip into the file....Upload the large upgrade to the same place you see your settings.php file.

So other wards, I would install the package in this location, then when you say "extract", this will unzip the package, and I follow what it says?

Right or wrong? Sorry about all the questions, I have to get this right or I'm in trouble.

Hatshepsut

Yes, unzip the package into the forum directory, then run upgrade.php in your browser - type this in the address bar (I give an example):

https://yourforum_url/upgrade.php

I managed to get Filezilla open, used the FTP to install the large upgrade into the public_html. Did the url thing, attempted this quite a few times, and still nothing, no upgrade. What the hell am I doing wrong?

I guess my next step is find someone that can do the upgrade.

Bigguy

Is your settings.php file in the public_html ??

No. Why?

Bigguy

Put the upgrade.zip in the same place as your settings.php and then extract it.
