This is a VERY good video! I'm considering doing this! I've been thinking about getting a phone and de-Googleing it but didn't want to go through the trouble of doing it myself.

Here's the website for the de-googled phones and software:

I've seen this guy before but haven't taken the time to watch one of his videos until now...

The video is very informative. However, I'm not paying almost $500 for any phone! LOL

I have a Google Pixel with GrapheneOS , they have a web installer it took me a few minutes to install.
I'd wait for a good sale on the Pixel 7, I managed to get my Pixel 6 Pro when then 8 came out it was $500 AUD so about $340 USD you don't have to get the pro you can get the normal one.

Google/GrapheneOS will support the Pixel 8/9 ect for 7 years, the Pixel 7 and below is for 5 years.

GrpaheneOS will support the phone usually 1 year after security updates are finished so the Pixel 6 will be out of support in 2027. Hopefully there is a good sale on a Pixel 8 then :)

I've been reading a lot about Graphine OS lately. However, I'm confused. Why buy a 'Google' phone to only 'de-googole' it if you can buy other phones? The skeptic in me says "It's a Google phone". Why would they not know about this and install a backdoor that no one can see???

They are one of the biggest tech companies who deliberately steal your data to sell it...

It is really confusing Google makes it very easy to install a custom OS. To install GrapheneOS all you need is a USB cable, set some settings up in the phone and a Chrome browser. You press the Install button on the webpage and it will handle the rest.

I haven't noticed any things being sent to Google. I get about 3 - 4 days battery on my phone it also has the latest Android.
I also haven't fully degoogled my phone I use the PlayStore and have Android Auto both work well. I have only had 2 apps that wouldn't update/install but I side load them from my other android phone :) they work 100% one is a offline GPS app that works with Android auto the other a gift card app.

Well, I'm glad things seem to be working out for you. But...

You are using Google products to make the change. I.E., Chrome, etc. Still Google.

Again, Android, still Google.

I really hope that things work out for you. However, I've been surfing the net for 35+ years and have watched these 'nice' companies morph into 'monsters'! I may have even helped them to do that being a beta tester for MANY software companies over the years and watched how they have changed and refused the beta testers responses for things like security which they have denied.

You may be able to change the software like Android, but not the hardware that they use...well, not completely, unless they allow it. Software can only do what the hardware allows, afaik.

You can change the software as much as you'd like. But, unless you disassemble the device and change it's hardware, it's still Google!

EDIT: I've been building PC's for over 20 years. The biggest thing that I've learned is that you must have the proper hardware to run the software you want. Why do you think a lot of people must upgrade their hardware to run Win 11?

Why can't I run any software I want on any device without having to change the hardware? There's a BIG reason for it.

These companies have always been evil. They just do it better now cause they got good at it. Cell phones suck. I hate how people use them like computers. I hate driving now or going through drive thru's. I used to talk to my brother every day for a few hours. Me on a land line and him on his cell. After our talks, all ads on the web would be geared to what we talked about. They are now and will always be spying on you. I could go on but, lol, then we start getting into what ppl call conspiracy theories, lol.

I recently found out that they do have apps like CCleaner, etc. for cells. :)

I have Bitdefender and it helps a lot. So far, it's been rated the best for the last few years, at least.

I have ccleaner on my phone. it does what it says but I'm not impressed by it for some reason. :dontknow

I've had problems with it myself. Haven't tried 'Glary's yet...  I've had issues with my account with CCleaner but haven't tried Glary's just yet. Too busy getting the new PC setup...
