The latest feature update to Windows 10, version 2004 is now being released through Windows updates. It is a gradual release, so not everyone will get it right now, but soon. Do expect a couple hours at least depending on your data and speed of your computer.  It will create a folder called "Windows.old " on your C drive, in case your decide you want to go back to the previous version, it's there for 2 weeks after install.

Steve be prepared for a long wait for installation. Mine started at 4:15 and finished at 10:56

Thanks for the heads up. I was just about to install it but decided to check on things first in case it would be long. I'll wait until just before bed and let it ride.

Steve depends on the speed of your internet and computer..

Mine is fast but not that fast..

My net speed is horrible! LOL I just let it run while I slept. I work up and checked on it and it said it was ready to be installed. So, I let it install and left the room. Awhile later I was about to come back and check on it but the power went out for about 1.5 hours for about a 5 block square radius!

I went outside and looked around and could see dozens of emergency vehicles going in one direction and knew something happened but I'm not sure what, atm. But the power is back on now and the install worked, thank God! LOL I was praying that it didn't power down in the middle of the blackout and cause problems.

One thing I did notice, and should be surprised, is that Windows is now allowing advertising! I hope we don't start seeing popups on the screen whenever they want them to. :bnghd But this does mean they have added more tracking software!

Ronald

Never noticed advertisement. I use AdBlock to block all ad's

I haven't seen any either, yet. I prolly got too many ad blockers and trackers installed. LOL I take my privacy VERY seriously! ;)

What are Trackers?

I use one ad blocker I pay for it. I also have a paid for VPN that I use.

Skhilled

Trackers are software that track you everywhere you go...like Chrome and most Google software does. There's a lot of sites that will install trackers along with the cookies like Amazon. Ever wonder why you always see ads for things you've bought or from sites you've visited? ;)

A lot of browsers now have anti-trackers installed in them and turned on by default. I use Firefox mostly for this reason and also clear my cache regularly. I also have extra anti-tracking extensions installed on my browsers. You can use Brave and Duckduckgo browsers which have also have them installed and promote privacy.

Even Opera browser now has a VPN built-in! No meed to pay for an ad blocker.

Another tick in the Linux box :)

Yeah, I hear ya! I haven't played with it in quite awhile on my PC. I may revisit it soon.

I am hopefully trying to go back to the original windows 10 I had before this upgrade.. This upgrade I have notice after having it three days now is a pain in the ass, takes all on 3/4 of an hour before I can open the browser to use my computer. This is not for me..

I tried to restore this morning and it tells me there are no restore points to go back to.

Ron, go to the search in your taskbar and type: "Startup". You should see Startup Apps"...click it. Then disable everything except for things like your mouse driver, sound card driver, anti-virus, firewall, etc. Turn off everything that you do not absolutely need to make your PC startup. Then see if that helps.

If it doesn't, run your anti-virus program and make sure it's updated and see if you find anything. I'm not having any problems waiting for my PC to fully boot up so I'm assuming that something's going on. You can also press CTRL+ALT+DEL to make the Task Manager run and you can see what is running and kill it.

Ronald

Did that not much starting.

This morning I started up, and the darn thing worked like nothing wrong..
I guess the large 4 pound hammer did the trick. When the computer seen the hammer, it had a change of heart.
